I’m Sailing Away: Why I Quit Dancing

I hesitate to write this post because I don’t want anyone who is in the industry to feel a certain way. If you are, your job is valid and to be fair, I did make bank as a dancer. It’s not the worst, or even a “bad” job if you’re into dancing and extroverted. While I’m still going to be modeling boudoir and lingerie, I have permanently bowed out of dancing as of 2 weeks ago. I’ll still be on Playboy and OF too, along with being an erotica author, but I am forever done dancing.

First thing’s first. I am a “nomadic” runner. Two things I will never give up are my love for running and travel. While travel dancing is for some girls, it’s not for me. Having new coworkers and dealing with new house rules every trip is stressful to me. I want to be free to have the same job and travel while I work. Another issue is that dancing and marathon running do not mesh. After a night of being in 8 inch heels and doing extremely difficult inverted maneuvers, I don’t have energy the next day to do what I love more - go running.

By the end of my tenures at most clubs, I was over the job. I started out optimistic everytime and left jaded (pun intended). I got lucky. 4/5 of the clubs I danced at, I felt safe. The most recent club was safe. That said, no amount of good managers, bouncers, and staff can prevent awful customers. Sometimes we get stalked, boundary pushed, and harassed. Having to deal with most of my clientele in Miami made leaving easy. Thank you to my Alaskan clientele for treating me so sweetly, you guys got me excited to come back.

I got a day job that allows me the freedom to work remotely 100% of the time. I don’t need to dance anymore. While it was fun to get back in, meet new collab partners, and make new content, I’m happy to retire. I partied, danced, and networked A LOT the past 6 months. My new job is far better for my health, sleep schedule, and long term stability.

Lastly, I have more important creative endeavors these days. Some I’ve already announced and others that are currently in the works. I’m still your favorite dirty minded erotica author. As mentioned, I’ll continue modeling with Playboy and creating content on OF. I’ll also be back in LA around late spring to continue filming the show I’ve been casted for.

I depart for my next modeling gig on 2/25 with Carnival Cruises and Bare Necessities. Thank you Carnival and Bare Necessities for sponsoring my trip! We’ll be setting sail to Costa Maya & Cozumel, Mexico and Roatan, Honduras. I am SO excited my job is letting me go on this trip. While I’ll probably work they’re fine with me taking some if not all of the time off. Less time in the club means MUCH more time writing, running, and doing fun travel gigs. Live the life you need to live to be happy deviants.

With lust,

The Deviant Queen
